Installation & Usage

Install the Slasher Minigame and get your first game going.

Installation

Drop the resource in

Put xt-slasher in your resources folder. Do not rename it - the folder must stay xt-slasher or the resource stops itself on start and tells you why in the console.

Let it build its tables

The two tables it needs are created on first start, with the starting map (Slaughter House) and its event ped. Nothing to run.

If your database user cannot create tables at runtime, the console says so - import sql/install.sql by hand instead. It is the same schema, and safe to run again.

Start it after its dependencies

server.cfg
ensure oxmysql
ensure ox_lib
ensure ox_target

ensure xt-slasher

OneSync must be on. See Dependencies.

Check the configs

Your framework is detected automatically. Defaults target qbx_medical and illenium-appearance - on anything else, check the bridge functions in configs/client.lua first. They revive the player and restore their clothes after a game. See Configuration.

On start the console prints a banner with the docs and support links. If it instead prints a rename or author warning and stops, the folder name or the manifest has been changed.

Playing

  1. Walk up to the event ped - by default at the Slaughter House, marked Slasher Event on the map - and target it to open the lobby browser.
  2. Create a lobby, or join one. Password-locked lobbies ask for the password; Join Random skips them.
  3. The host starts the game once enough players have joined (minPlayersToStart, 2 by default).

Everyone in the lobby is moved into the map in their own routing bucket. When the game ends they are returned to where they were standing, in their own clothes, and stay in the lobby for another round.

Commands

CommandWhoWhat it does
/slasherbuilderAdminsOpens the Map Builder. Run it again to close it
/leaveslasherAny playerLeaves the current game or lobby, after a confirm

Hold TAB in a game for the full scoreboard. The key is scoreboardKey in configs/client.lua.

Keybinds

/leaveslasher is not bound to a key out of the box, so it cannot collide with a key players already use. It still appears - unbound - under Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM for each player to set.

The builder's cursor, undo, redo and exit keys are listed there too, and can be rebound the same way.

If the lobby browser ever stops responding to the mouse, /slasherbuilder in the F8 console closes it - for any player, admin or not.

Usage notes

Lobbies live in memory. A server restart ends every game and returns everyone to the default routing bucket. Maps and event peds are in the database, so restarts and updates never touch them.

One game per player. A player in a Slasher game is in a routing bucket and cannot be seen or interacted with by anyone outside it. Use the exports to keep death, inventory or HUD resources from acting on them.

Editing a map mid-game is safe. A game already running is unaffected - it plays against a snapshot taken when it started.

Upgrading from v1

Version 2 moves maps and event peds out of the config files and into the database.

Replace the folder

Drop the new xt-slasher in over the old one. Your old configs/ will not work as-is - start from the new ones and copy your values across. The weapons, rounds and hiding settings moved from configs/client.lua to configs/shared.lua, and deafultBucket is now spelled defaultBucket.

Start it

The new tables are created on first start. oxmysql is now required, and Renewed-Lib no longer is.

Rebuild your custom maps

configs/maps.lua is gone, and its maps are not imported. Slaughter House is added for you; rebuild any other map with /slasherbuilder. The old points, spawns and thickness values are a useful reference while you place them.

Place your event peds

startingPeds in configs/client.lua is gone too. Place your peds in the builder's Peds tab.
